In the Ayeyarwady Region, among the congressmen from the “Pyi Thu” party that ran for seats in the 2020 election, three members have been detained while a few others have fled.
A spokesperson from the “Pyi Thu” party reports that U Htay Min Than, U Sein Thaun, and U Sett Naing who all ran for congress in the Ingapu Township (Ayeyarwady Division) have been detained.
U Sein Thaun has been in detention since April and has been charged with violating environmental law. U Htay Min Than was detained on the 15th of this month and U Sett Naing on the 17th. They both were charged under 505 as reported by a spokesperson from the “Pyi Thu” party to the Ayeyarwady Division.
U Sein Thaun has been detained since April and is currently being held at Hinthada prison. Following this, U Htay Min Than and U Sett Naing were detained on November 15th and 17th for posting anti-military dictatorship remarks on social media, according to the local people of Ingapu.
In the Ayeyarwady Region, there are only about 20 members in the “Pyi Thu” party; one member from Pathein township was also detained while the other three members fled as stated by a close source of the “Pyi Thu” party in the region.
