
KACHIN STATE – The bodies of three men, with hands tied and shot dead, were found at a place between Mhawsisa and Lonekhin villages in Hpakant. The bodies were found in the early morning on Monday (June 20) and they were widely known as Dalan (Informants), according to the locals.
A Hpakant resident said that the incident took place at around 2 am this morning (June 20) near the Paw Oo tea shop between Hmawsi Sa and Lone Khin villages, and all three men were shot with their hands tied to the back.
“The three men were said to be Dalans, they were all shot in a close range. At 6 am, one of them had not died yet. However, at around 7 am, a Funeral Service picked up the bodies. It must have happened in the early morning before dawn. We all found them this morning,” the resident said.
Those killed by an unidentified group were a 60-year-old man from Tawmhaw Village, a 50-year-old from Masupyan Village, and three 30-year-olds from Sai Jabum Village.
Earlier on 31st May, 4 people including Lawpan (Boss in Chinese) Mr Oak Kyaw from Mat Lin Chaung Village were also massacred near Sup Aung Village in Hpakant.
There have been frequent assassinations of military-appointed residential ward administrators and informants in Hpakant during 2022 and as of June, a total of 20 have been killed.
