MYANMAR – The terrorist junta council is drafting a bill that would allow VPN users to be arrested and sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison, and the confirmation of the draft will be announced soon, according to the news source of Myanmar Post and Telecommunications.
The terrorist junta regime has banned VPNs from using Secure Web Gateway since May 30. However, not all VPNs can be blocked, and people continue to use Facebook. Therefore, the military council drafted a cyber security bill, and the use of VPNs will be punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison and can impose fines. It was said that the bill will soon be confirmed and announced.
“Despite the ban on the use of VPN with Secure Web Gateway, people still use Facebook. But the junta council is trying to take action against it by issuing a cyber security bill. It is about to become a situation where we have to use Facebook illegally. When the VPN is banned, Facebook Live Sales will go down and people will suffer. We will no longer be able to do business,” said a source of Myanmar Post and Telecommunications.
The terrorist junta council blamed the country’s instability on the use of Facebook and has been trying to block the social network in various ways.
