MAGWAY DIVISION- Mr. Pho Chit, a 20-year-old youth from Thalukan village, was arrested by the junta army for no apparent reason. People close to his family told the News Agency that they had lost contact with him after being arrested by junta troops.
On May 7, Pho Chit went to a memorial service and got arrested by the junta army near Kyimyin village on his way home. He was detained for no apparent crime and junta troops initially asked for 5 million kyats for his release. Mr. Pho Chit was then reportedly detained at Shwebonthar football stadium. Since May 9, his family has been unable to contact him.
“He was on his way back home from a memorial service. At first, the army asked for 5 million kyats for his release. Then, the Junta officers told his family members that Pho Chit had arrived in Taunggyi, Magwe, and Nay Pyi Taw, etc. Now the family has no contact with him. Pho Chit is son of Mr. Nyo Win and Ms. Mhone Si,” said a person close to the family.
On May 8, at around noon, three large military trucks and four cars drove away from the Shwe Bomthar football field, reportedly carrying more than 40 young men who had been arrested as recruit soldiers, without informing their families.
