BAGO DIVISION – About 15 female political prisoners transferred from Insein and Obo Prisons have been put in confinement at Thayarwaddy Prison in Bago Division for almost two years without any reason, said from a prison source.
It is reported that about 15 female political prisoners who were transferred from Insein and Obo Prisons have been locked up in number 5 and 8 barracks of Thayarwaddy Prison for 1 year and 8 months for no reason even though they did not break any of the prison rules.
Although only prisoners who broke prison rules are to be placed in the confinement cells, Chief Warden Ye Yint Naing and all wardens and prison staff are violating human rights and dignity of prisoners by locking up the political prisoners there without reason.
The political prisoners who have been locked up in Thayarwaddy Prison barracks 5 and 8 for no fault of theirs have asked Warden Wint Wa Cho why they are being confined for no reason and to allow them to move to the prison dormitories but the warden who is in charge of the prison barracks did not take responsibility to resolve it.
After the military coup d’état, Warden Wint Wa Cho was transferred to the notorious Thayarwaddy Prison. She had blamed and insulted the employees who joined CDM and is a lackey of the junta council who support the junta regime and followed their orders to get promoted.
In addition, it was learned that venomous snakes, centipedes and scorpions frequently enter the prison cells in Tharyarwaddy Prison and when female political prisoners requested for help from prison staff, they didn’t remove the snake first, but ordered the prisoners to sit in prison squat and threatened to beat them if they shouted.
