RAKHINE STATE – Those informed of the military situation said that from 6:00 a.m., August 13 to 1:00 p.m., the military council and the Arakan Army (AA) were fighting fiercely.
A military source said, “It was from 6:00 a.m., fighting broke out in the city, but there were no aircraft yet. Yesterday (August 12) the junta air force bombed and carried out air strikes.”
According to some refugees of Kyontali, fighting broke out near the police station, municipal office, electricity office, high school and the roundabout.
A refugee said that most of the residents of Kyontali had fled to safety because of the precautions of AA forces and the airstrikes of the military council, but a few are still left in the town.
“There are few civilians in Kyontali, probably less than a hundred. There are a few who remain to guard the house or the fields.”
After the AA captured Thandwe Town, it continued to attack the military council camps to capture the town of Gwa. Battles broke out between the Military Council and the AA near Chin Kwin Village, Kyontali, Gwa Township on August 10 and fighting broke out in the town on August 13.
