MYANMAR – The young people abducted and conscripted by the junta council in Mandalay and Sagaing Divisions were sent to the junta Eastern Central Command (ECC) in Kholam, and No. 3 Advanced Military Training School (Kyaitaung Ta Ka Ka 3) based in Nhamsan, southern Shan State, according to the local people.
The forcibly conscripted young people from Pyigyitagun Township in Mandalay Division and Monywa Township in Sagaing Division were sent to the junta ECC and Kyaitaung Ta Ka Ka 3 as the fifth batch of conscripted soldiers.
“On August 18, Administration Officer Saw Naing from Ga (Center) Ward in Pyigyitagun Township, Mandalay entered the houses and forcibly abducted young men for conscription. Now, they were sent to Kyaitaung to attend training. They were also sent to Kholam. Ten young people from Ga (Center) Ward were taken,” said a resident.
Young people were abducted and forcibly conscripted in Mandalay since August 18 and they were sent to Kyaitaung and Kholam on September 9, after being detained at the military engineer corp 910 near Maekinkone Village to the east of Mandalay Hill.
A total of 312 young people abducted in Mandalay Division have been reportedly sent to Kholam and Kyaintaung and the young people abducted in Monywa Township of Sagaing Division are also being sent there.
“They are allowed to use their mobile phones for a short time. Now, they will be allowed to use it once a week but I’ve lost contact with him for now,” said the wife of a forcibly conscripted young man from Mandalay.
