RAKHINE STATE – The junta council bombed Thandwe at past 11 p.m. on December 19 and three civilians were injured.
Two junta jet fighters bombed Ward No. 1, Ward No. 4, Bayintnaung Road, Sabel Road and the land registration office in Thandwe, injuring Ms. Tin Tin Cho (55), Mr. Ye Aung (63) and Ms. Ohn Myint (85) from Ward No. 1. Two houses in Ward No. 1 and the land registration office were also reportedly destroyed.
On December 17 night, junta forces stationed in Sittwe fired heavy artillery shells into Ponnagyun Township that is under the Arakan Army’s (AA) control and the shells exploded in Padaytha Village, killing one civilian and injuring four. The civilians killed by junta shelling are reported to be 58 year old Mr. Maung Yin Tha who fled from Kyantaw Village in Sittwe Township to Padaytha Village to escape the conflicts. The injured victims are Ms. Ma Thein Nu, Ms. Thein Nu Mar and Ms. Bu Ma Che from Padaytha Village and a visiting woman from Kyauktaw.
Similarly in Maungtaw Township, artillery shells fired by junta navy ships on December 18 exploded in Udaung Township and injured two Grade 9 students, 14 year olds Aung Min Hein and Zaw Lin Hein. It is learned from the locals that the junta council has been constantly bombarding Maungtaw Township after the Arakan Army captured the entire Maungtaw Region on December 10.
On December 19 morning as well, junta ships in the Bengal Bay had shelled Maungtaw Region. Meanwhile, AA stated that they are chasing and eradicating the junta and subordinate armed forces in the run in Maungtaw Region.
