SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – The residents said that the junta council was casually checking the guest list without the administrator and the head of the 100 household in the last week of August in Taunggyi City.
Every night at 11 o’clock they are patrolling neighborhoods such as the northern parts of Taunggyi City, Yadana Thiri, Nyaung Phyu Camp, Sao San Tun, Pyi Taw Thar and Mingalar Oo wards and casually checking the guest list.
“The ward administrators and regional chiefs did not include in the check. Pyu Saw Htee, the police and soldiers asked to show the register of their households. Some houses with iron doors will be slammed and making noise until they open the door. Only children and elders are losing sleep because of them,” said a local.
In the group checking the guest list, about 5 military vehicles arrived with full manpower and the police were accompanied.
It is reported that the administrator and the head of the 100 household only participate sometimes, and when they do, they have to wait in the car with the glass door closed because the administrators are no longer in power.
“They were like beggars and arrived after a good night’s sleep. They slammed the door until it opens. They also kicked. The house owner asked for administrator and they said no. When I looked at the car, the administrator put on glasses and immediately put the window shades down. They only ask us to pay 20,000 kyats,” said another person who experienced.
It is reported that the refugees sheltering in Taunggyi have to pay 5 thousand kyats per person for the guest list and tens of thousands of kyats if they are found out when the guest list is checked.
If the people on the guest list return home, they must notify the administrator, and if they return, if they have to come back again and have to pay more money. So the refugees who going back and forth are costing a lot.
