SAGAING DIVISION- According to local sources, five civilians were killed by the military junta council troops in Tuma Ya village, Minkin Township, Sagaing Region.
On the evening of July 16, troops from the military junta council entered Tuma Ya village from Minkin town, detained, and killed four men and two women. However, one man survived because the junta troops thought he was dead, the locals said.
“They dragged them out of the village and killed them in the field. The injured person has been sent to the hospital. We can now be relieved. He pretended to be dead all night,” said Bravo, the spokesperson for the Student’s Revolutionary Force (S.R.F). “He was cut all over his body with a knife.”
The survivor is identified as 39-year-old U Tu Naing. His wife, 38-year-old Ma Hla Lay Nwe, 50-year-old U Win Swe, 60-year-old U Tin Win, 38-year-old Ko Chit Ko, and 38-year-old Ma Myo Myo Win were killed, according to the S.R.F.
The S.R.F. believes they were detained and killed under the accusation of being PDF informers.
According to U Tu Naing, the remaining civilians, including his wife, Ma Hla Lay Nwe, were cut and killed with knives in front of his eyes.
U Tu Naing, who sustained multiple knife wounds, survived because the military junta council troops left him, thinking he was dead. He was rescued and treated by the Student’s Revolutionary Force, according to S.R.F. spokesperson Bravo.
Tuma Ya village is under the control of the military junta council troops. It is reported that the military junta council is trying to spread propaganda, claiming that PDFs were killed in the incident with photographic evidence.
