BAGO DIVISION – The terrorist junta council abducted 145 civilians in Tharyarwaddy District in five days and only releases those who paid five million Kyats, according to residents.
Starting August 15, the terrorist junta council forces abducted over 30 civilians in Letpandan Township, over 50 civilians in Min Hla Township, over 30 civilians in Oakpho Township, over 20 civilians in Gyobinkauk Township and nearly 20 civilians in Zeekone Township.
It is said that the terrorist junta council, after not meeting its conscription quota in Tharyarwaddy District, has ordered to abduct and forcibly conscript 60 people per township and the junta forces would use private cars to make surprise arrests on the streets and even raided houses following such orders, but would later release the people who were able to pay them five million Kyats in ransom.
“The abductions by junta forces have gotten worse in the west part of Bago Division. The junta dogs (junta forces) have been forcibly taking away people since August 15. There are orders to gather 60 people per township in Tharyarwaddy District because the number of people sent for military service by the administration officers did not fulfill the quota. They abduct people on the streets and in the towns and villages as well, sometimes making surprise arrests in white private cars. They free you if you pay them money. The amount ranges from two to five millions. Because they would even raid the houses to abduct people, men don’t even dare to stay at home now. The people will be unable to work and starve if it goes on like this. The junta council don’t even spare men over 60 years old,” said a resident.
