MYANMAR – Naing Naing Tun (aka) Saw Li, the junta administration officer for Anawyahtar Ward that was conducting census in Bagan New City, Nyaung U Township had died after getting shot, according to local residents.
The ward administration was reportedly shot at 10:38 a.m. on October 14 when he was conducting census at Seinpan Street in Paikthelel of Anawyahtar Ward, Bagan New City.
“The ward administration officer was a native-born here. We called him Ko Saw. Someone on a motorcycle came and shot him when he was conducting the census. He died on the spot, shot in the head. They blocked off Bagan and conducted searches following the shooting. The motorcycle was from a Chinese maker,” said a resident.
Similarly, in southern Shan State, gunmen attacked ward administration officer Zaw Lwin and his wife at
Theinkone Village, Ywangan Township, Danu Self-administered Region, around 7 p.m. on October 12, killing both.
Following that, junta council members reportedly collected the bodies and the junta police issued medical notes and opened a case to investigate the shooting.
