SHAN STATE – Local people reported that the junta council carried out airstrikes in Hsenwi of northern Shan State although there were no ongoing battles.
On July 28 around 2 a.m., junta air force dropped two 500lb bombs on the Muse – Kunlun fork in Ward No. 4. The bomb landed on the house of Shwe Hsenwi Express and out of the family of seven, three people including a child were killed while the mother of the child lost her leg.
“An adult died later, at the hospital. We don’t dare to continue living in the town and have fled to the villages. Even those in the town only stay for a while during the day and would sleep at the pagoda at night,” said a resident of Hsenwi Hot Springs.
The junta bombs resulted in large pits in some houses and there were also destroyed houses and motorcycles, according to residents.
Recently on July 25, junta forces opened fire on the civilian houses in Myaypaekone Ward from the planes, destroying a large number of houses. A resident shared that they can’t comprehend why the junta council would bomb and attack the civilian wards at night.
“They keep on one-sidedly attacking the civilians here. They should be fighting, soldiers to soldiers but keep on targeting the civilians. I can’t understand,” said the resident.
Residents shared that they wish for the junta council to cease the one sided attacks such as bombing and airstrikes to prevent civilian casualties.
Previously on July 18, junta dropped 500lb bombs on the market during the crowded time around 4 p.m., killing the secretary of SNLD party and seven civilians from Ward No. 1 including Ms. Nan Ah Wu.
