YANGON DIVISION- Mr. Shwe Zan, a retired police chief, was arrested at Tharkata Township for allegedly supporting the Arakha Army (AA) and posting propaganda on social media.
On November 26, at around 6:15 p.m., junta soldiers and security guards raided his home at No. 7, West Ward, Aung Chanthar Road, Tharkata Township, and took him away, according to persons close to his family.
The retired police captain Mr. Shwe Zan was arrested on the charge of inciting against the Military Council and posting news supporting AA on the Facebook social network.
During the arrest of Mr. Shwe Zan, his house was searched and an iPhone 13 Pro and a Redmi K 30 mobile phone were seized. The retired police chief was taken to Tharkata Police Station for questioning on November 27th, and to the interrogation center thereafter.
Family members are worried since they don’t know which interrogation center he was taken to, according to sources close to them.
A case has reportedly been opened against the retired police captain Mr. Shwe Zan at Tharkata Police Station, but it is not yet known under which section he was charged. The former Police Captain Mr. Shwe Zan is the son of Mr. Aye Maung and an Rakhine ethnic. It is not yet known which township of Rakhine he is from.
Over a month ago in Yangon, Arakan-Myanmar singer Ms. Su Myat Htet was also arrested from her home by the coup military council. She is currently being interrogated by the military regime and has not yet been released.
