MANDALAY DIVISION – In Wundwin, residents that the junta council’s army arrested porters and sent them to Meiktila 99th Division as new recruits.
It is reported that the junta council’s army entered Ywatan village tract, Shawpin, Zaongjang, Konbaung, Ywathit, Ywatan, Gonkway and Seinpanpin in Wundwin township, Mandalay Division at 5:00 p.m. on July 9th in civilian clothes, grabbed 3 young men, stormed onto the houses, arrested them as porters, and took them to Division 99 in Meiktila for recruitment.
Similarly, on July 10th at 10:00 a.m. the junta council’s soldiers entered the Ywathit village in 3 cars and arrested 4 young people with a list of names. The young men ran away and escaped. After that, the army threatened to arrest the rest of the family members, and they had to pay a fine of 300,000 kyats per youth to the army, and send 4 youths to the army.
It is learned that the army entered Ywathit village again, and 1 young man was again forcefully recruited as a soldier and taken away on July 11th at 6:00 p.m.
Now, young people are running away in all the villages in Wundwin township. It is said that the villages mainly work in cotton weaving at night and sleep during the day. There are no more young people, and businesses are also facing a lot of difficulties.
