KAREN STATE – A PDF source in the KNU Brigade 6 territory reported that the school at Phlu Village was damaged by junta artillery attacks in Myawaddy Township.
The junta council’s artillery base at Swetaw Hill reportedly fired heavy artillery shells into Phlu Village around 2 p.m. on October 1 and the shells hit and damaged the school. However, because classes were dismissed early on that day, none of the students nor teachers were harmed.
“Classes were dismissed early once sounds of heavy artillery attacks were heard. The subsequent shells landed on the school. The school was destroyed. But the children and the teachers were not harmed. It was a school for primary students. There was no battle. It was a deliberate attack. But there’s one thing, our forces have surrounded Swetaw Hill,” said the PDF source.
Revolutionary forces frequently attack the Swetaw Hill located near Lay Kay Kaw in Myawaddy Township and are said to have surrounded the junta forces there at present.
