KAYAH STATE – A prolonged intense battle between the junta and the United Karreni Defense Force took place in Daw Hlyar Khu village on the east side of Demoso for 9 consecutive days, from May 14 to today (May 22). During this battle, the junta carried out aerial strikes for 6 consecutive days, starting from May 17 until today (May 22). The junta utilized point 5 guns and 500-pound weighted bombs in their attacks.
Khu Nyay Yal, the Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Karreni State Government, reported that the junta’s jets arrived at approximately 4 a.m. this morning (May 22). The junta’s jets conducted aerial strikes 10 times over the course of the week. While there were no reported human casualties, the extent of the damages caused by these strikes is unknown. The junta’s jets were equipped with point 5 guns and utilized 500-pound weighted bombs.
As a result of the junta’s aerial strikes, two schools and eleven houses in the nearby village were destroyed. The junta frequently targeted the early morning hours, around 3:30 a.m. or 4 p.m., when people were asleep. Occasionally, they conducted strikes around 6 p.m. They also carried out aerial strikes in the midst of the ongoing battle if the situation escalated, even targeting villages.
Additionally, the junta consistently fired heavy weapons from their army base every day. The United Karreni Defense Force announced three casualties among their ranks, but the exact number of casualties on the junta’s side remains unknown.
