MANDALAY DIVISION – The traffic inspection group of the junta council forcibly inspecting and extorting money from the motorcycles in the Meiktila, Mandalay division.
Military council troops, police, traffic police, and Pyu Saw Htee are carrying weapons and inspecting motorcycles to extort money in Meiktila. Residents of Mithila said that even though they have complete integrity, such as a driver’s license, vehicle license, helmet,, and back mirror, they are finding fault and extorting money.
“They are asking for at least five thousand. They are driving around to avoid them,” said a resident of Meiktila.
Meiktila residents said that yesterday, people who came to pick up school were being targeted and arrested so the motorbikes were driving around the flooded road.
Residents said that people living in the city knew where they were and could evade them. Still, people who came from the villages to the city to buy goods went directly to the vehicle inspection team and were arrested and extorted.
It is reported that Meiktila city has many military bases, including the air base of the junta council, and security forces are in so many places to prevent attacks by people defence forces.
