KAREN STATE – The junta council is desperately defending the strategic base in Anankwin Village located on the Hpayarthonesu – Thanphyuzayat Road in Kyainseikgyi Township using air and artillery attacks, according to Karen military news sources.
Anankwin Strategic Base is in the territory of Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 6 and KNU led forces have surrounded and attacked it starting the second week of August.
The base is under Mawlamyaing based junta South East Command and covers the Hpayarthonesu – Thanphyuzayat Road section.
KNU led joint forces are attacking Anankwin Strategic Base to gain control of the Hpayarthonesu – Thanphyuzayat Road section.
The junta council is also continuously defending with air and artillery attacks in order to not lose the base.
It is said that battles broke out on August 24 near Lutshan Village which is located close to Anankwin Village and where junta forces are stationed.
