MAGWAY DIVISION – The terrorist junta council is conducting offensives in Pakokku Township, even bringing tanks, and has killed at least eight civilians and abducted over 100 civilians to use as human shields from three villages, according to the deputy person in charge of Pakokku Township People’s Defence Organisation (PDO).
Starting October 21, over 300 junta terrorists, bringing tanks, invaded Kunn Village and set up camps at Kunn Village and Shwetantit Village then raided the villages in the area.
That terrorist junta column is reported to have murdered at least eight civilians and looted to their heart’s content when raiding Ashayt Myinkyun Village, Kunn Village and Sinmin Village.
“The first raid was on October 21st morning. Kunn Village was the first to be raided. The junta column at Kunn Village set camp at Kunn Village, Shwetantit (Village) and the surrounding area and have been raiding the nearby villages for five days now. They have yet to torch any of the villages but they looted and stole clothes and cash from the houses. The dog column (junta column) is over 300 strong. They brought snipers, tanks, 102mm and 120mm. We heard that over eight civilians were murdered. Because we still cannot enter the villages, we don’t know the exact number (of civilian casualties). At least eight civilians were killed from the villages of Ashayt Myinkyun, Kunn and Sinmin. We haven’t been able to recover the bodies. Because the (junta) column is over 300 strong, we aren’t able to clear the area. It is certain the eight people were killed. There are also people missing,” said the deputy person in charge of Pakokku Township PDO.
Moreover, the terrorist junta column is also reported to have abducted and detained around 70 civilians from Myinkyun Village and around 50 civilians from various villages on their raid, keeping them as human shields at Shwetantit Village.
“As for abducted civilians, there were around 70 in Myinkyun Village. In total, there are more than 100. They have detained all of them at Shwetantit Village where they are planning to set up base,” continued the PDO officer.
Currently, it is said that over 7,000 civilians from Shwetantit Village, Sinmin Village, Kunn Village, Daungsarr Village, Nhawkone Village, Kinmonkhar Village, Natkyun Village, Phayarkone Village, Seikkantharyar Village, Magyeepinpu Village, Htantawsu Village, Kyunoh Village, Uyinsu Village, Myinkyun Village and Maetawhla Village are fleeing to safety and are in need of emergency food rations.
“15 villages are displaced. There are over 7,000 displaced people. They need rice and cooking oil. Because they had to flee in a hurry, they weren’t able to bring much items. We want to ask everyone to resist those (junta) bastards committing murders and atrocities during Thadingyut. We also urge to support the 15 villages in need to emergency assistance,” said the PDO officer.
