KAREN STATE – The terrorist junta convoy delivering rations to junta battalion 607 on the Taungoo – Leiktho Road at the border of Karen State and Bago Division was intercepted on July 21, killing eight junta forces and securing seven weapons, reported Kenni Twilight Zone, a local defence force under Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 5.
The attack was carried out by KNLA Battalion 5 under KNU Brigade 2, and Kenni Twilight Zone local defence force.
The attacked junta convoy had seven military vehicles and the resistance forces opened fire on the convoy near Htoewahkyaung Telenor Hill around 6:45 p.m. The battle reportedly lasted for over an hour till 8:10 p.m.
One junta vehicle crashed and turned over during the clash, where eight junta forces were killed and at least 15 were injured. In addition, it is said that three MA 11 rifles, one LM16 rifle, one AK47 rifle, two K12 rifles and two MA11 cartridges were seized.
A large number of junta reinforcements arrived from Kyaukonegyi outpost during the battle and the resistance forces had to fall back. An official from Kenni Twilight Zone requested support from the people as the local defence force is requiring assistance in many areas.
