MANDALAY DIVISION – Junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htees launched an offensive at Yatha Village, Myingyan Township, killing three civilians and setting fire to over 250 civilian houses.
On April 8 at around 5 a.m., junta soldiers from Myingyan Downtown and the Pyu Saw Htees from Kyauk Kan, Le Thit, and Nyaung Toet Villages jointly raided Yatha Village in three vehicles.
Afterward, they fired at civilians and killed Mr. Nyan Phe, 60, from Yatha Village, and a father and son from Phayin Village. The junta soldiers also abducted villagers from the school, looted their mobile phones, and tortured them.
“They raided the village at around 7 a.m. Before releasing the civilians, they abducted them at the school and looted their mobile phones. Now, they’re not in the village but they raided without resistance,” said a villager.
From morning until afternoon, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htees set fire to civilian houses, burning down over 250 out of 500 houses. The villagers couldn’t return home and are still fleeing to nearby places.
On April 5, Yatha Villagers conducted inspections on Pauk Gyi, a Pyu Saw Htee Leader, and the junta soldiers retaliated by launching an offensive, killing civilians, and setting fire to their houses.
