MYANMAR – The junta council plans to send Myanmar people to work in the agriculture, animal husbandry and production facilities in Russia which is currently engaged in war against Ukraine, according to a source from the junta Ministry of Labour and the community of overseas employment agencies.
Under the collaboration between the junta labour ministry and Russia, Myanmar workers will be sent to take up jobs in agriculture, animal husbandry, construction, and production facilities that are undesirable to Russian nationals, and programs have begun to teach the Russian language to potential workers as the war-afflicted Russia becomes a new market for Myanmar workers, reported an employment agency.
“They are planning to start recruiting workers after coordination between the labor ministry and Russia. For now, they are opening basic Russian classes. The first batch of workers will be for construction. We heard that Russia made the first offer to get Myanmar workers as they are lacking hard labour in Russia,” said the employment agency.
It is said that the workers in Russia will have to bear no cost as the employer will be taking on the costs of hiring.
The junta council recently sent thousands of workers to landlocked Laos and is now planning to further send more to Russia, a literal war zone.
In Russia, locked in a war against Ukraine, its people are conscripted under the mandatory military service law, with many dying on the battlefields in Ukraine. Meanwhile, many young Russian nationals have fled to Asian countries such as Thailand to evade conscription.
