RAKHINE STATE- The Arakan Army (AA) announced last Monday (October 7) that the Kalarpyin bridge connecting Gwa and Kyateneli town was blown up by the military council as they retreated.
AA said that after they had seized Thandwe town and advanced towards Kyateneli and Gwa townships, junta police and army retreated to Kalarpyin Village, Kyateneli Town. Firefights in the Kyateneli area have reportedly been going on for about a week.
The military council in those areas has been defending from ground, air, and naval forces but is still being defeated. On 7 October, at around 2:30 a.m., the Kalarpyin Bridge, building across Kyateneli Creek, was destroyed (by using highly explosive mines) at the midway, and junta troops retreated to Gwa town.
AA said that after capturing the Junta camps at Kaing Khone and Gantgaw Taung on the top of Kalarpyin Bridge on October 6, the junta forces blew up the bridge and retreated. It is reported that AA is chasing and attacking the retreating military council troops.
Locals reported that the Junta Council had launched airstrikes until the next morning (October 12) after the AA occupied the military bases in the Kalarpyin village.
The military (coup) council has been carrying out air strikes on the southern Rakhine State such as Thandwe Taungote and Gwa regions every day and is targeting towns and villages where civilians live.
