TANINTHARYI DIVISION- Military Council soldiers from the Theinnaw Camp based in Theinnaw Village, Tanintharyi Township, deserted the camp after being unable to resist the barrage attack, as reported by Tanintharyi Regional Military Department on September 28.
Myeik District People’s Defense Joint Column (1) and Column (2) under the command of the Regional Military Department (Tanintharyi) of the NUG Ministry of Defense (MOD), have been launching offensives on Theinnaw Camp since the end of April 2024.
“The air attack on the current battle had been the most intense,” informed the Regional Military Department (Tanintharyi).
It is reported that about 150 forces from Theinnaw Camp fled the camp on September 25 and arrived near Ban Kyope village, where the fights against the joint revolution forces are taking place again.
“Finally got the camp I wanted to conquer. Thank you all comrades for their efforts. It is the power of swiftlets (birds symbolizing Tanintharyi’s famous product; birds nest),” wrote a leader of the Revolutionary Joint Forces on the seizure of Theinnaw Camp, on his social media account.
According to the Regional Military Department (Tanintharyi), Theinnaw military camp has been known to be a base camp for over 40 years since its establishment in around 1980. It is also the major front-line base that provides administrative support to the War Nwe Camp on the Thai-Myanmar Border, Laykay base, and Point (3000) base.
Currently, in Tanintharyi Township, junta troops fleeing from Theinnaw Camp have been fighting against the People’s Defense Forces and the Regional Military Department (Tanintharyi) urges the people who will be traveling in Myeik District, to cooperate seriously according to the notices issued.
