MON STATE – According to local residents, the iron reinforced concrete bridge near Kamasai village in Thaton township on the Yangon- Mawlamyine highway was destroyed due to a mine explosion.
It has been reported that iron reinforced concrete bridge No. 3/134 between Milepost No. 133/6 and 133/7 in Yangon – Mawlamyine Highway, in Kamasai village, Kamasai new ward, Thaton township, Mon State was broken by a mine explosion in the early morning of August 2nd.
Currently, the Yangon – Mawlamyine Highway is temporarily closed and traffic is temporarily suspended.
“At the moment, we can’t drive cars anymore. In addition the road to bypass the village is covered with mud and water because of the rain. We don’t know if the road will be reopened by repairing the broken bridge by pilling up soil.” said a local resident.
