MON STATE – Local people said that the Karen Lay Hsate bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway in Thaton township was destroyed by the mine explosion, and the road was blocked, with tourist cars and trucks stopped and unable to travel.
On July 16th at 10:30 p.m., the Karen Lay Hsate Bridge in Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway, between Thaton and Bilin was destroyed by a mine explosion. Currently cars and trucks are blocked.
“There are about 100 cars stuck now. We haven’t found a bypass road on that side. We don’t know if we should turn back or wait for the temporary bridge to come,” said a tourist.
The Karen Lay Hsate Bridge, which is very close to Kyon Eit Bridge which is often mined, near the Shwe Yaung Pya gas station in Thaton township.
