KARENNI STATE – The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) announced that they have made an emergency retrieval of Karenni traditional and cultural heritage items displayed inside the heritage museum in Loikaw.
A large number of houses, private buildings and religious buildings were damaged by junta air and artillery attacks during the 1111 operation that started in November, 2023.
In addition, the junta council and its criminal lackeys have also been breaking into and stealing the properties belonging to the people.
“We are informing the public that we are properly keeping the items safe to avoid loss and damage from reckless attacks of the junta council,” said Mr. Banyar, the secretary of the IEC.
He said that the invaluable Karenni heritage items were at risk of getting stolen or destroyed due to reckless actions of the junta council during 1111 operation.
And thus, the traditional accessories, instruments, weapons, clothings and the Pharsi (a traditional drum) were moved to a safe place in an emergency retrieval.
The Karenni IEC stated that the Karenni people have the duty to pass and maintain through generations, the Karenni traditional and cultural heritage items that were valued by the Karenni Sawbwars (chieftains) who have ruled the Karenni Region and the Karenni people and ethnic groups.
