MYANMAR – The Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) said on September 28 that the terrorist coup council’s invitation is a sham peace invitation that only aims to divide the democracy forces.
Countless innocent civilians including children and women lost their lives due to the war crimes and human rights violations of the illegitimate junta council that stole the power from the people, unable to accept the results of the 2020 election, including targeted air and artillery attacks on IDP camps, schools, hospitals, religious buildings and homes.
As the entire public is unitedly against the atrocities of the junta council, the latter’s ruling mechanism is no longer effective and the 2008 constitution also no longer covers the entire country, explained the Karenni State IEC.
At a time like this, the illegitimate coup council is forcibly conscripting people, attempting to conduct census and hold an election to find itself a political exit, and now issued a sham peace invitation that aims to divide the democracy forces.
The Karenni IEC said that the junta council’s invitation is not the solution to the current political problem but is just another political exploit that will create more problems.
As such, the Karenni IEC won’t accept the junta council’s invitation but continue to work towards building federal democracy and restrict the latter’s unlawful acts within Karenni State. The IEC also urged the other states and federal units to continue their united stand alongside the people.
