KACHIN STATE – Colonel Naw Bu, the spokesperson of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) said that there is a battle between KIA and junta subordinate militia forces in Panwah, Chipwi Township.
It is said that the battle broke out after the junta subordinate BGF forces under U Sa Khun Taint Yaing launched attacks on KIA forces during the second week of September.
“We don’t have reliable reports on the military situation in Panwah. We are told there is a battle but we cannot confirm where the battle took place, what kind of battle it is or how intense it is. We are still investigating,” said Colonel Naw Bu.
KIA and PDF joint forces attacked the junta subordinate Pyithusit and BGF forces in Panwah in June and captured multiple junta stations and Pyithusit and BGF outposts including Sadone Strategic Base.
Even before that battle, on June 7, U Sa Khun Taint Yaing issued a military order to eliminate the KIA and PDF forces. However, contrary to the order, the Pyithusit and BGF forces lost their bases and some of their members deserted and ran away.
General Gun Maw, a leader of KIA commented on social media on the 2nd that such military order should not have been issued. At the time of the comment, there were ongoing battles resulting from the U Sa Khun Taint Yaing led militants attacking the KIA forces in Panwah.
The site of those battles is in KIA Brigade 7 territory. KIA Brigade 7 and PDF joint forces recently captured a Pyithusit base at Lagwae Village in Panwah Region during the first month of September.
