SAGAING DIVISION – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) completely captured the junta base in Mya Taung Village of Tigyaing Township, and seized many weapons and ammunition, according to KIA news source.
On August 23, at around 4:00 p.m., KIA, Kachin Region People’s Defence Force (KPDF) and All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) completely acquired junta base in Mya Taung Village of Tigyaing Township and confiscated a halt of weapons and ammunition. The casualties of junta forces have not yet been confirmed.
KIA was searching for the junta’s tactical commander and some junta forces who fled after the attack and capture of the camp.
“The Revolutionary Forces completely captured all the junta bases in Mya Taung, at around 4:00 p.m., on August 23. There were no junta dogs (military soldiers) in Mya Taung. The details of casualties of junta soldiers and the seizure of weapons are not yet confirmed. The junta’s tactical commander and his fellow ran away,” said KIA’s military source.
It was said KIA attacked the junta’s Mya Taung base, starting on the morning of August 21, and completely captured it on August 23.
