MYANMAR – Kachin’s KIO vice president Lt. Gen. Gunmaw responded through social media that the invitation to resolve political issues through the election process by the terrorist junta council that called on ethnic armed groups and PDFs to lay down their weapons and join the political party line is flawed.
At 8:00 p.m. on September 26, the terrorist junta council made an announcement saying that the political problem should be solved by political means, and asked the EAOs and PDFs to give up their weapons and resolve through the political party and election route.
However, in the statement, the junta council claimed that it has tried all kinds of ways to solve the 2020 election fraud, but they tried to take the sovereignty of the state, so the military took power according to the 2008 constitution. As the census and the electorate are going to be collected for the election on October 1st, they issued an invitation to lay down arms and solve political problems via the routes of political party and election.
“They presented a report on why they took over the power and announced that a census will be taken. The method of invitation is a bit lacking,” Lt. Gen. Gunmaw wrote on social media.
The National Unity Government (NUG) has yet to issue any official response to the military council’s invitation, but several sources from the NUG leadership shared that this latest announcement makes it clear that the terrorist junta council has no choice and is at its last moment but continue to put on a facade as usual of its nature while dragging the country and the people into the abyss until the end.
