KARENNI STATE- Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) Strategy No. (8) reportedly formed two additional battalions.
The KNDF announced on August 5 that Battalion 29 and 30 will be expanded, reaching a total of five battalions under Strategy No. (8).
Originally, Strategy No. 8 was formed by Battalion 22, 23, and 24 under the command of the KNDF, and have been conducting military operations between Karenni and Southern Shan State.
“I request people to support the needs of the new battalions as well,” said the KNDF Strategy No. 8 official.
From May 2024, the KNDF expanded to form Strategy No. 7 and Strategy No. 8, each with over 500 forces. Therefore, the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) has 8 strategies, from Strategy No. 1 to Strategy No. 8 in the three years of its formation.
“There are over ten thousand troops,” states Commander General Khuridu of the KNDF.
At the moment in Karenni State, many clashes broke out in Loikaw, Hpasawng, and Demoso, as well as the border between Karenni and Southern Shan areas such as Phekon, Pinlaung and Nyaung Shwe Townships.
In those areas, there are damages and casualties from both sides. The KNDF recently reported that at least fifty PNO militia and Junta troops were killed and more than 30 weapons were confiscated.
