MYANMAR – The Commander in Chief of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), General Saw Johnny, said that having a dialogue with the terrorist junta council is no different from supporting the illegitimate military coup of the junta terrorists.
He said this at the online ceremony by 1949 Spirit Group on November 26 where he was awarded an outstanding award.
“Min Aung Hlaing staged the coup and is holding onto the stolen power. We can’t be having a discussion with him. (But) there are some among us who went to discuss with him. Visiting Min Aung Hlaing and holding talks with him is no different from supporting his coup,” said General Saw Johnny.
He also continued that the Karen people have been on the path of revolution for 77 years, that both dialogue and armed resistance need to be explored in order to achieve a Karen State with the power of self-determination but the dialogue should be with the legitimate government and not with the terrorist council who stole the power in a coup.
