MYANMAR – The Karen National Union (KNU) spokesperson as well as a member of its CEC, Padoh Saw Taw Nee said that the terrorist junta leader Min Aung Hlaing’s invitation to resolve political conflicts holds no substance and that there will be no dialogue without guaranteeing three items including to punish the junta council for all its war crimes.
The terrorist junta council chief invited the EAO and PDF to drop the armed resistance and resolve the political conflicts by means of political party or election during an 8 p.m. broadcast on September 26.
Padoh Saw Taw Nee explained that the revolutionary forces including the KNU have a common political agreement to resolve the political conflicts arising due to the military coup of the junta council and that a dialogue will be possible only if three items agreed in the common agreement, the military shall withdraw from politics and enter under the command of civilian government, a new constitution shall be written, and all war crimes committed by the junta council shall be punished, are achieved.
“Stop playing that old record that holds no substance. It is just annoying. We all already have a common agreement to resolve the political conflicts politically. First of all, the army has to withdraw from the political stage and accept necessary changes to transform into a professional army and stay under the command of the civilian government. That’s the first item. Second, concede to drawing up a new constitution that is fundamental to build the federal democratic union that is extremely important to us. Thirdly and most importantly, take responsibility for all the war crimes that were committed against the people. A dialogue to resolve the political conflicts shall take shape once those three items are accepted. If you don’t accept those and continue to act as you wish, it won’t be possible. If you don’t accept, we will continue to pressure you. We will continue to push, combining our strengths from inside and outside the country, using political, military and diplomatic means including economic sanctions as well as public campaigns,” said Padoh Saw Taw Nee.
The terrorist junta council announced that it will conduct census and collect the list of electorate on October 1 and hold an election in 2025. However, revolutionary forces have rejected the junta council’s election and released official announcements that it is against the will of the people.
