SHAN STATE – The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), who has control over majority of the territory in northern Shan State, officially announced that they explained to the prisoners of war how they have no desire to erect a new country but rather wish for self administration under a federal democracy system and against racism.
“We don’t have a desire to establish a new nation. We will actively take part in establishing the democratic federal union to guarantee self administration for all the ethnic people. Our national armed forces are all against the racism that favours the Bamar people only. We will not practice racism that favours the Han people after the revolution succeeds. MNDAA supports equality for people of all ethnicity with no bias based on class and respects the rights of all ethnic people for political desire and self administration,” explained an official from MNDAA.
MNDAA officially stated that it is decisively against racism and supports the building of an equal, free, democratic and peaceful federal union with equal rights for all people, that it is against military dictatorship, that the military should be subordinate to the government, and that it supports independent administration, legislation and finance systems in ethnic regions or special administration regions with the rights to practice independent authority.
Thousands of junta forces surrendered to MNDAA during the recent battle at Lashio and MNDAA is said to have adopted a policy to treat the prisoners of war with respect, ensured them safety and basic rights to earn their livings, provided humanitarian treatment to those who are injured and have implemented programs to educate, guide and transform the prisoners of war.
