SHAN STATE – The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) is working on fixing the 33KV substation, replacing electricity poles and connecting electricity cables in order to supply electricity to Lashio City in northern Shan State.
After the battles ended in Lashio, the special region 1 administration team immediately formed the working committee to carry out rehabilitation works in post war Lashio. The electricity distribution system in Lashio has been disrupted by the battles and fixing it has become a top priority for post war rehabilitation works.
Currently, in order to quickly supply electricity to Lashio and to meet the electricity demand of the residents, the ten staff from the hydro and electricity company of special region 1 are working together with local staff to fix the 33KV substation, replace the old and damaged poles and reconnect the high voltage cables and it is expected that the works will be completed in a few days.
In addition, to guarantee full electricity supply, initial preparation works for discarding sediment form the hydro plant, cleaning the water channel and test running the turbine engine at Nanmae Creek Level 2 Hydro Power Station are planned to be carried out.
MNDAA informed that electricity will be restored in Lashio after Special Region Hydro Power Company completes the repair works and advised the citizens to check and repair the cables and circuit breakers in homes in order to prevent accidents after the electricity is restored.
