SHAN STATE – The Kokang MNDAA (Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army) and joint forces launched an attack on the central sentry of the junta council’s Northeast Command based in Lashio on August 1 night, according to CDM Captain Zin Yaw who has been sharing updates on the military situation in northern Shan State.
The captain who joined CDM with 17 years of experience in the army said that the chief officer at the sentry is injured and that although only the office building remains behind the sentry, the battles would be tough moving forward.
“The central sentry is the most important place in a base and is considered the main point,” Captain Zin Yaw posted on his Facebook page.
It is said that the central sentry has no defenses, not even barb wires, around it and is joined to the hospital.
Lashio residents confirmed that there are ongoing battles near the Northeast Command but the exact details are not clear.
Telegram channels of junta supporters and mouthpieces claimed that the Northeast Command has yet fall but did not mention any report of the battles.
MNDAA and joint forces have captured offices of junta departments as well as military bases in Lashio.
MNDAA stated that they have captured the Northeast Command on July 25 but did not release any photographic evidence.
Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) are reported to be fighting alongside MNDAA in Lashio.
