MYANMAR – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) announced on September 20 that there has been more than 880,000 flood victims in Myanmar.
In the flood occurred nationwide, almost 900,000 (887,000) people including the war displaced civilians suffered from the flood. The UNOCHA reports based on information on the ground that there are 300 deaths and nearly 100 injured as of now.
Among them, more than 230 people died in 15 flood-affected villages in Mandalay Division, and more than 50 people had to undergo at Yamethin hospital. 26 townships in southern Shan State faced soil collapse and swept away by floods, at least 78 people died and 47 were treated, UNOCHA listed.
More than 65 townships in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago divisions, Karen, Kayah, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan states were affected by the floods, and houses and buildings, roads and bridges were destroyed as well as crops and farmland.
UNOCHA mentioned that US$4 million will be used for emergency relief including clothing, medicines and drinking water for the people affected by the floods.
However, the Terrorist junta council has been blocking aids delivering to some areas for flood relief.
