YANGON DIVISION – Most of the people going abroad using visit type PV passport have been banned from traveling and asked to return from airport. It was known from travel agencies, immigration officers and those people who were banned at airport that the junta council is blocking the people from visiting abroad even with all the evidence such as visa, return tickets, hotel bookings, and show money.
The terrorist council has been scrutinizing and restricting departures from Yangon airport to foreign countries since August. Even though the statement mentioned that only to prevent those who are going to work in foreign countries with a PV passport, but in reality, young people from 18 to 40 years of age with a PV passport are blocked from visiting abroad. Almost all departures abroad with the visit type passport PV have been restricted. Even though visa, return flight ticket, hotel booking, show money and all the evidences are shown, all those going abroad for the first time are being turned away from the airport.
People holding a new PV passport book were being sent back from Yangon airport without any explanation, and those who did not have travel records, and traveling abroad for the first time were being asked to turn back on August 27.
‘There is a big blue signboard at the airport that says that people who go abroad to work with PV passport are not allowed to leave the country. But now, any new PV passport is no longer allowed to depart. People had visa, return flight ticket, hotel bookings, show money, and everything but they were asked to go home without checking anything,” said an owner of a travel agency.
On August 14, the fascist council officially announced that it will screen and ban those who are going to work abroad with visit type passport PV.
Among those who are currently being asked to return from the airport also include people who are going to travel abroad due to health issues, and for study. Even if they show complete documents about their health and school admission etc., they are banned from going abroad without giving any reason.
