MYANMAR – The United Nations representative for Myanmar, H.E. Kyaw Moe Tun said that the coup of the terrorist junta council destroyed the democracy progress of the civilian government including Myanmar becoming a signatory to the Treaty of Prohibition on Nuclear Weapons.
Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun said this at the second conference of the members of the treaty held in New York on November 29.
He mentioned that even though the citizens of Myanmar are facing the illegitimate coup and the atrocities of the terrorist junta council, they still support the items in the Treaty of Prohibition on Nuclear Weapons and promised that Myanmar will become a member of the treaty in the not so distant future and will work on ending nuclear weapons.
In addition, he pointed out that a political stage that respects the wishes of the citizens and the restoration of democracy is essential for becoming a signatory to the treaty and requested the international community to assist the people of Myanmar eradicate the military dictatorship, restore democracy and build a federal democratic union.
