MYANMAR – The Union Minister, Dr. Win Myat Aye of the National Unity Government (NUG) said that not only the flood victims from NUG’s administration but also other regions have been provided help and assistance.
The Union Minister, Dr. Win Myat Aye said that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management assisted almost 500,000 civilians in a month.
“Recently our department has assisted in total of about 500,000 civilians during this period, including not only the war displaced, but also the people who have been affected by the flood. A total of about 500,000 civilians were given help in a month, from the end of June to the beginning of August,” the Minister explained.
It is reported that such assistance is being provided to the people of the areas under the control of the National Unity Government as well as the areas where it is not under control.
Dr. Win Myat Aye said, “The whole country is affected by the flood. There are areas that NUG already seized and is under control, and there are areas that we have not yet captured. We do not leave anything behind. We help the flood victims in both areas.”
In order to provide such assistance, NUG works work with local responsible organizations for controlled areas and is providing support through connected networks for those areas not under the administration of NUG yet.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management has been supporting to almost 500,000 civilians from more than 500 villages, 28 townships, in Sagaing, Magway, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyarwaddy and Tanintharyi divisions, Kachin, Rakhine, Northern Shan State, and Karen states.
It is reported that 431.9 million kyats have been supported by international aids through the “By the people-to-people program” until the end of July.
