TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official from Daung Nyinaung Column reported that nine detained people including Mr. Thee Phae, headmaster of a primary school, who attempted to conduct census for the junta council in Thayetchaung Township have been released.
On October 9, Mr. Thee Phae, the headmaster of the primary school in Yantaung Village, along with two teachers, Village Administration Officer Myint Oo and wife Than Than Soe, Mr. Kyaw Aye from Panchishaung Village, two school teachers from Thayetnhakwa Village and one teacher from Maenaeoh Village were detained by defence forces after they tried to conduct census for the junta council.
“We already planned to release them after the census ends at the time of their arrest. We also treated them as normal during their detention, only issuing a warning. We released them all on November 1,” said the official from Daung Nyinaung Column.
Daung Nyinaung Column is part of Thayetchaung Township People’s Defence Organisation (PDO). It is said that the terrorist junta council conducted census in Thayetchaung Township between October 1st and 31st.
“We’d like to urge the people to oppose the junta council’s administration mechanism using all methods and to find a solution on how to stop the sham election forced by the junta regime,” continued the official from Daung Nyinaung Column.
