SHAN STATE – Residents of four villages have been trapped by the collapse of nine mountains south of Kalaw, and parts of the road have been damaged, making it difficult to travel for rescue teams.
The entire western range of the nine mountains in the south of Kalaw, about three miles in length, collapsed due to a natural disaster. It is reported that the people of Inngaung, Yayayechaung, Selain and Taungpwar Villages from Myindeik Village Tract are trapped.
The road leading to those villages is covered with soil, making travel and it is said that to repair the road, the soil and rubble blocking the road need to be removed but it requires the use of machinery.
“We urgently need food, clean water, and fuel for machinery. The road will be reopened once the stones can be removed. We are appealing to the people to contact us and donate,” said a local resident.
