MON STATE – New Mon State Party (NMSP) issued an announcement on October 17, calling the members of Battalion 5 who went to join the New Mon State Party – Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) that broke off from NMSP to join the fight against the military dictatorship, to return.
The announcement urged the members of the party and battalion to return to the mother party, saying that joining NMSP-AD was not the correct way.
NMSP also mentioned that there are no agreement between NMSP and NMSP-AD regarding battalion 5 and the entire Phayarthonezu region joining the latter and that the members of NMSP are free to apply to leave the party and go anywhere they want after receiving permission.
This came after the commander and soldiers of NMSP Battalion 5 announced that they are joining NMSP-AD on October 5.
Neither NMSP-AD nor NMSP made any comments when contacted to ask about the situation.
