KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied Revolutionary Forces attacked and captured the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) (437), the last remaining military base outside Momauk Town, and the whole of Momok Township has been cleared of military troops, confirmed by Col. Nhpang Naw Bu, spokesperson of the KIA.
The KIA and allied Revolutionary Forces attacked the junta’s LIB – 437 outside Momauk Town, at around 7:00 a.m., on July 24, and captured the entire LIB-437 at 3:10 p.m., on August 19, after nearly a month of attacking.
“We captured the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB- 437),” said Colonel Naw Bu.
The KIA frontline source said that Revolutionary Forces were clearing the area in LIB-437. The headquarters of the LIB-437 is a military council camp with around 500 junta forces.
“The KIA and allied revolutionary Forces completely acquired the juntas’ last remaining LIB – 437 headquarters in Moemaok Township, at 3:30 p.m. There was no junta troop in Momauk Township. We chased and cleared the fled junta soldiers. The seized weapons are too many,” said the KIA frontline source.
The KIA attacked and occupied the police station and the junta’s battalions in Moauk on May 7 and 8, and occupied LIB-437 outside Momauk Town on August 19. A KIA source said that there was no junta troop in Momauk Township.
