SHAN STATE – The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has not released any updates on junta North East Command Commander Major General Soe Tint, Brigadier General Thant Htin Soe and Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe who have been detained since the capture of junta North East Command in Lashio over one month ago.
MNDAA led joint forces first launched offensives on Lashio on July 3 and captured the junta North East Command on August 3, completely capturing the city.
Then on August 4, MNDAA captured the North East Command Commander Major General Soe Tint (Tayza 16), Division Military Commander Brigadier General Thant Htin Soe (Satatha 41) and Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, the commander of Kyaukme based Military Operations Command 1, with all three of them reportedly surrendering.
“It is not known where they are detained. But they must be treated well since they surrendered. Junta soldiers and junior officers who surrendered in Lashio in poor health conditions were released in batches. There are no detailed reports on the regional command commander and the two brigadier generals so we are not sure about the details either,” said a source from the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
Major General Soe Tint was seen surrendering to MNDAA without resistance in a white undershirt in a video showing his surrender.
Thousands of junta forces and family members surrendered to MNDAA after Lashio was captured on August 3.
