MANDALAY DIVISION – Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) reported that they successfully fired seven 107mm rockets at Mandalay Palace at around 4:00 a.m. on September 3. Out of the ten 107mm rockets fired at the Royal Palace, seven were successfully fired, and the damage is still being investigated.
A resident of Mandalay said that explosions occurred in the northern part of the city at around 4 o’clock on September 3 morning, affecting public homes as well as junta controlled areas.
In addition to the explosions at the No. 4 police station in the northwest corner of the moat and Shwe Jin Toll Gate, which is the northern entrance to Mandalay City, the blast also hit homes in Nyaung Kwai Ward, Aungmyaytharzan Township and the houses between 11th and 12th streets on the 80th Street in the west of the moat, causing damages.
“Even the houses shook. I almost believed it was a battle and there were planes dropping bombs. There were four explosions followed by two more explosions. I’m certainly it landed in No. 4 police station,” said a resident of Aungmyaytharzan Township.
During the explosions, a man from Nyaung Kwai Ward was injured and some houses were also damaged, but the junta council’s casualties are not yet known.
This attack on Mandalay happened after rumours came out that revolutionary forces might attack Mandalay in the second wave of Operation 1027 (Shan-Man operation).
Last March, Mandalay’s military-owned Yadana Pon Hall was attacked with a 107mm rocket and in April, the Defense Services Academy School (DSA) in Pyin Oo Lwin was attacked with a 107mm rocket.
