MYANMAR – The National Unity government (NUG) announced that the NUG Minister for Human Rights presented the current Myanmar affairs to the United Nations and urged to cease cooperating with the terrorist junta council.
Mr. Aung Myo Min, the NUG Minister for Human Rights attended the presentation held at the United Nations building in Geneva on September 19th at 10:00 a.m. and explained the current human rights situation in Myanmar as well as the floods facing the citizens of Myanmar as a result of typhoon Yagi to the UN representatives in attendance.
The Minister stated that there is a special need for international cooperation to deal with the situation in Myanmar, explained that the national Unity government is working with the ethnic revolutionary organizations to rescue and provide assistance to the people affected by the flood and urged to provide humanitarian assistance via border crossing programs.
The NUG Minister also discouraged cooperating with the junta council as the junta council had always exploited the humanitarian assistance from the international community whenever natural disaster struck in the past.
In addition, Mr. Aung Myo Min also expressed consent to the report by the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and promised to take on the responsibility and accountability suggested in the report.
The presentation to UN representatives was arranged by the embassy of Luxembourg and was attended by UN representatives as well as officials from UN offices and agencies and there were also questions and discussions regarding Myanmar.
