THAILAND – The Ministry of Labour, National Unity Government (NUG) announced that they assisted 50 Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand who were in trouble because of their work agency.
50 MOU workers from Myanmar, 25 women and 25 men, from Maha Chai arrived in Pathum Thani after connecting with an agency to work in construction.
However, they didn’t get the jobs and the agency promised them work at a canned fish factory, and they returned to Maha Chai on September 21.
Because of the promise of the work, the workers had to spend their own money to arrange their living but they didn’t get a job even after more than a month had passed and so complained to the NUG Ministry of Labour.
In response, the Ministry went with the workers then summoned the representative from the agency and conducted negotiations.
It is said that the Ministry arranged for the agency to employ the workers at a factory within fourteen days and to refund the fees and return the documents if they failed to do so.
